The Chairman and members of the ESSU extend their congratulations to Mick Gault on his award of an OBE in the New Year's Honours list.
This is well deserved, being a fitting recognition of his fine performances and unfailing services to his Sport and Country over many years. Over the past 4 Commonwealth Games representing England, Mick has amassed 15 medals spanning all the pistol disciplines - the majority Gold. This is the highest number of medals won by an English athlete in the history of the Games. It is this fine acheivement coupled with his overall service and commitment to his Sport and Country that have earned him such recognition. Much of the required effort to make such a significant contribution has come with great personal sacrifice, of which we are all well aware. The award of an OBE is the hightest honour bestowed on a Shooter in living memory and reflects the esteem in which he is held. |
